Peace in 2020
Happy New Year everyone! I am excited for the next chapters to unfold with gratitude, humbleness and appreciation for the gift of life itself. As you have noticed by now there have been some updates to the website. I am putting an emphasis on the music for a while. My single My Love is featured through various channels on the site with a b-side called This Is You. I am eager to put new songs together and to start playing out again probably first at Uncorked Wine Bar in Akron.
In the meantime, I wanted to just check in a bit with the deeper spirit of my practice and work. This area of the site in the news and updates will be a place where I can address folks directly and share ideas that I am working with about my life and my life’s work. It is important to me to keep centered and grounded in a practice of life art along the way. I am still pursuing a place in the world that responds fully to the art world while also transcending it. Currently I am looking at four main areas of creative output and practice. Those four areas are music, SSG (Spirits, Souls and Ghosts series), experimental/conceptual/installation, and life. The life part encompasses them all of course but these four areas have a lot of meaning for me and are categories that have emerged from looking at what I actually enjoy working on and feel like there is an impact associated with somehow.
That said, for any long time followers, I am still very immersed in art as life. I want to do more writing about that along with the other sections as a way to craft but also as a way to unpack (which can be a further extension of crafting). I write these posts for myself and others. It is a way to envision what I am currently working on, what I have done, and what I may do in the future. I wrote the piece Art In The Age Of The Anthropocene and I am really happy with it. It is posted on Medium and can be accessed through a link at the bottom of this webpage. I am taking a cue in part from author, historian and futurist Yuval Noah Harari in looking at climate and artificial intelligence as major issues we are dealing with as a species. I want my work to continue to explore these issues and see how the art as the craft of life theme can be utilized to help address them.
There are videos on my YouTube channel that speak directly to the impact of the art as the craft of life theme. They can be linked to through the Media tab on this site. Everything else right now is in flux though remains in a sense of peace, compassion and joy. I will be starting back in to my schooling for a master’s in information and library science in the middle of January. So that will take a significant amount of my time and dedication but I plan to work in a full range of my interests to create a full life. I hope you see that there is starting to be a full expression of art as life both in daily mundane practice, day job pursuits and also areas of interest including writing, music, conventional art and so forth. This is the full range for my particular interests, talents and gifts. I am excited to begin again and again and take things further in my inquiry into creative expression.
I hope you all are having an excellent start to 2020 and I look forward to sharing and communicating with you all. Peace. Love. Light. Care. Hope.
